Windmills
WINDMILL-ANIMATED.GIF (9578 bytes)
We run a 60 cow dairy farm and we are looking at diversifying our
business, Our farm is located 15 min. east of Sussex and we think that
we have a prime location to set up and operate a windmill.  To start with, we are looking at installing a windmill as low as 65KW and as high as 600KW. Here is an example from Ontario: "Ontario Hydro's single 600 kilowatt demonstration turbine near Tiverton, Ont. produced 1.218.00 kilowatts-hours of electricity in 1st year of operation - enough for 152 Canadian homes."  We have erected a small tower to measure wind speeds to determine the capabilities of our site and to develop a business plan. As far as we know this would be a pilot project for the Province of New Brunswick.

The biggest problem so far is with NB Power and it is not a technical one, but a political one. NB Power told us, that they only pay 90% of the fossil fuel stand by rate to people that generate power. For the past 12 months it means that they would have actually paid us 90% of 2.4c/kwh. With that rate it is not feasible to go into the rather big expense of building a windmill. In an article of “ Natural Life” we read that several countries in Europe changed their legislation and producers of alternative energy receive 90 % of the regular price.  This is exactly what we need here in Canada. Governments and power companies need to change their thinking, especially in the long run since nuclear power is not the answer and we need to find long term solutions for our energy requirements.

This letter is intended to inform you about our project and to find out if people would like to be updated on our progress or would like to become part of the team.  We hope that you would like to support us.

Yours truly,
Frank J

My name is and I work for Ecoversite in Moncton.
Your project is very interesting and could become a precedent in our
province, wich badly need green electricity.
I support your project and applaud your effort. If I can be of
any help, don`t hesitate to call me. Maybe when it`s time to put
your project in public eyes, we could coordinate our effort since I
am working on a sustainable house project to be build this summer.
Your project has tremendous possibility in destroying the myth that
renewable energy is not efficient or not feasible.
