The Time Draws Near

Richard Doiron
Poet

May 25, 1999

he time draws near when we must hear
The thunder and the roar
As Mother Earth takes up her berth
And crowds us to the floor

The things we've done have made the sun
The devil to the eyes
Let one to dare to test its glare
And see what that implies

The waves on shore like none before
Now lap in liquid heat
Let men deny as might they try
To hide their blistered feet
